What type of support do you offer with your site promotion program?
Support and expert advice is available during normal office hours.
What type of optimization will you provide for me?
We will generate optimized pages, which target keywords and phrases that apply to your Web site's content. This gives you a head start in heading to the top of the search list. They also act as alternate entrances to your Web site, giving potential visitors more ways to find your domain.
Do all search engines use the same criteria to rank pages? Will the same techniques work for all of them?
No. All search engines use different algorithms to determine page rankings.
Do you guarantee positioning? I mean, placing my site on the top ten positions. There is no way to guarantee what position your site will be listed due to the many changes that search engines go through and the numerous pages that are added constantly. When you have no control over the algorithms a search engine uses/changes to or the number of sites in your industry being developed, a guarantee is nearly impossible.
Do you provide your site promotion program for websites housed outside of your network?
We can provide services for any domain but we will need you to place code which we will provide on your website or simply provide this information to your Webmaster.
What are meta tags?
Meta tags are optional lines of HTML code, located in the HEAD section of your document, which can be used to describe your page. Meta tags provide descriptive information about your site to search engines, but in a form that isn't displayed by the browser. The relevant attributes for search engines are the DESCRIPTION and KEYWORDS attributes. Only 25% of Web sites include meta tags, but many search engines use them to rank pages.
What is the importance of meta tags?
There are numerous meta-tags, but the most important are: title, description, keywords, robots, and alt tags. These tags are used by many of the major search engines and all of the smaller search engines. These meta-tags must be optimized to satisfy the search engine spiders. Poorly written meta-tags are a primary cause of failure to become listed in the search engines.
Do capital letters matter in keywords?
A few search engines, like AltaVista and Infoseek, are case-specific. When submitting to these engines you may want to make upper- and lowercase versions of your main keywords. For other engines, lower case versions of your keywords are recommended.
What are ‘Alt tags’?
Many search engines will index the alt text of an image on your site. It is wise to place keywords in an image alt tag or to repeat your description within one. Do NOT excessively repeat keywords in the image alt tag. Stating each keyword ONE time is ideal.
Here is an example of an image alt tag from the ! 10 Web Site Promotion site:
< src="banner.gif" alt="Your site description goes here " width="200" height="150">
Why should I resubmit my site to the search engines each month?
Resubmitting can sometimes provide an extra bump up the charts, so we can schedule a regular re-submission.
