In this section Selecthost answers the most common questions I receive from our customers regarding our hosting plans.

How Do
I place an Order?
Go to the hosting package and select
the PayPal button to set up a subscription,
Please note that this is totally secure
and I never get to see your credit card
or bank details. Alternatively contact
us if you wish to pay by Cheque, Postal Order or Standing Order.
I have a Domain Name Already. Can I transfer it?
Yes. Most of our clients have either
registered a Domain Name elsewhere so
that they remain in full control or are
transferring their site from another
host due to poor service.
When you place an order please make sure that you specify that it is not a new domain.
I will then provide you with details of the name servers that you will need to change or I can do this for you.
Before changing the nameservers please contact us to confirm which server your site will be placed on.
How long does
it take before my hosting account
is active?
I process all orders manually
to prevent abuse of our servers by spammers
etc. our accounts are not instant like
many of other hosting companies (however,
this does mean that I are not on any blacklists and can mail into various
ISPs like AOL, who are extremely strict!).
Hosting accounts are processed in the order that they are received and are usually set up the same day, however, please note that you will still have to wait for your domain to propagate around the Internet which can take 24 - 72 hours but I often find this usually happens within 12 - 24 hours.
Can I
upgrade my Disk Space if needed?
Yes, simply request your account to be
upgraded. I will
then arrange for the upgrade and alter
your payment accordingly. However,
I can supply you with a
specific package to meet your needs.
Can
I obtain extra Bandwidth if
required?
Yes, I can either provide you extra
data transfer on a regular basis for
your account or simply at peak times
such as Christmas and holidays. Extra
bandwidth is provided at £2.25
/ GB per month. Alternatively if you
find that you need extra bandwidth on
a regular basis then it might be a better
option to arrange a different plan.
What are your
hosting policies regarding adult
sites or warez?
In short NO. However, please
contact us if you are uncertain. I are also happy to host software
sites providing you either own the copyright
to the software or have permission to sell
it.
As per our Terms of Service I will NOT host under any circumstances any site that is illegal nor will I entertain spam as not only does this mean I get blacklisted it also effects our other clients.
May I
use my account for commercial
purposes?
Unlike personal space that you get with
your ISP our hosting services may be
used for commercial purposes and I provide
various scripts such as Free Shopping
Carts to help get your business online.
I can also help you with Web
Design if required.
Do you offer
technical support?
Yes, at Selecthost I believe in
the personal touch and so provide technical
support via email. I also provide our
telephone number on every page
of our site which many companies do not which
you can contact us on usually between
10am and 6pm Monday to Fridays. Although where possible
I will help you with the various scripts
installed on the server please note I
do not actually offer technical support
for these. Please ensure that you have
to hand your domain name, user name and
nature of the problem
Do you give
any kind of money back guarantee?
Absolutely all our hosting accounts come
with 30
day money back guarantee, which means
that you can sign up with us, virtually
risk-free.
Please note that refunds will not be given for any account which has broken our Terms and Conditions.
Does my account
come with SSL?
All accounts can be set up with shared
SSL certificate free of charge for processing
sensitive information such as name, address
and phone number. If, however, you want
your own dedicated IP and SSL with
insurance, 128bit Data Encryption etc.
then please contact us as this can be
arranged.
I will require full company details,
proof of identification etc. to be posted
to us on letterhead and in the case of
Ltd companies details of the registered
office and company number. This will
enable you to accept credit cards and
process credit cards both on and offline
subject to your credit card merchant
status (eg: PDQ)
Can I terminate my
account at any time?
Yes, our hosting plans are done on a
month to month contract which you can
cancel any time by simply canceling the
PayPal Subscription. However, if you
require discounts on longer periods (eg
12 months) then please fill out our cancellation
form
Do you
put banner advertising on my
site?
No certainly not. I do not believe in
advertising on a site that a client has
paid for. You remain in complete control
of your website at all times,
